Cleaning & Maintaining Your Sex Toys

Proper toy cleaning can have a positive impact on both the toy and your body. Cleaning your toys with the proper techniques and soaps will extend the life of your toy, and ensure that it’s always ready to use when you want it next!

Replace Non-Silicone Toys After 4-6 Months

There are very few toy materials (silicone, glass, stainless steel) that are non-porous. This means that most toys have microscopic pores that may maintain build-up. With proper cleaning, these toys remain safe for use, but they may begin to exhibit tiny tears or air pockets after an extended use. We always recommend that you replace non-silicone toys every 4-6 months so that you are always using a toy in excellent condition.

Use A Condom

If you are still uncertain about how to properly clean your toy, you are using a porous toy, or are looking for a quick cleaning solution, we recommend you use a condom. Condoms are especially beneficial when sharing a toy with a partner. Condoms can also be used during anal-to-vaginal penetration with the same toy, as they can be thrown out or replace in between to prevent undesirable build-up from occurring. Always check the material of the condom and use with an appropriate lubricant.

Remove Your Batteries

Regardless of whether you’re cleaning a toy or not, batteries should always be removed when a toy is not in use. This extends the life of the toy and the batteries, and prevents battery corrosion. Even when cleaning a waterproof toy, batteries should be removed. If there’s any doubt about waterproofing, avoid getting liquids near or in the battery pack area. This is when a damp washcloth is the best option.

Toy Cleaning - What To Use & How

Use the following methods for cleaning your toys. To ensure proper storage, always dry your toys completely with a non-shedding / non-fibrous cloth or let them air dry, and store in a cool, dry location. We find that top shelves in closets and bureau drawers make the best out-of-site storage areas. Store sex toys separately (resealable plastic bags work) to prevent them from sticking to each other and degrading the materials. *Remember that porous toys cannot be completely sanitized. Always take proper care of these toys. Never store them next to similar materials.

Antibacterial Soap
Jelly, TPR, TPE, Glass, Metal, Ceramic, Silicone
The best option for cleaning all toy materials is a gentle, body-safe antibacterial soap and warm water. Though some toys may be submersible in water, it is not necessary to submerge your toys to give them a proper cleaning. For semi or non-waterproof toys, use a damp, soapy washcloth to clean the entire surface of the toy, making sure to avoid getting water in the seams or battery compartments. Never submerge battery packs, mechanical components, or electrical toys. Leave the soap on for 2 minutes before rinsing off.

Cleansing Toy Wipes
